Gakurin Lotus Program held “an Annual Special Schooling”

On July 30, 2023, the Gakurin students in the Lotus Program, consisting of post- graduate students and medical students, held “an annual special schooling” at various venues including the Gyogakuen Campus. In the morning, President Sugino delivered a lecture on the overview of “Buddhism and the Lotus Sutra, and their application in the global affairs” followed by a guided tour of the Great Sacred Hall and Founder’s Memorial Hall led by Rev. Dr. Masahiro Nemoto, Special Advisor to the Asian Conference of Religions for Peace (ACRP). Participants learned about the spirit of Gakurin’s founding principles, focusing on engaged  Buddhism and interreligious dialogue and cooperation.

In the afternoon, research outcomes from various fields such as medicine, aerospace, education, chemical systems, and public policy were presented. The faculty for the Gakurin Lotus Program consisted of esteemed professors who are faith-inspired experts in their respective fields. In this face-to-face interaction, students of the Gakurin Lotus Program received guidance from these professors regarding their specialized fields and research topics. Lotus students committed to further improving research attitudes and enhancing personal development, drawing from advice through the professors’ extensive experiences as faith-inspired researchers over the years.
